ABOUT THE ARTIST

Nancy is a 4th generation native of Mobile, AL. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1985 where she studied Fashion Merchandising and Design. After graduation she moved to Atlanta and resided there for 33 years. She returned to South Alabama in 2018 and retired from 34 years of mortgage banking. Her flexible hours allowed her to explore her passion for painting. She studied under several accomplished artists, most notably her dear friend Henry Barnes of 20 years. Henry taught portraiture at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art. Other influential artists include Ted Goershner, Connie Winters, Creason Clayton, Kelli Folsom, Cheryl Connelly.

Her passion for painting is driven by color and the effect of light using whimsical painterly strokes, evoking strong emotion. Her love for cooking and gardening is represented in her work, especially florals . A description of Nancy would not be complete without a mention of her deep love of cats!
